Use

In this IMG activity, you define the additional cost categories for down payment chains. The additional costs are updated such that they either decrease revenues or decrease expenses:

  • Credit-side down payment chains: Decrease in expenses
  • Debit-side down payment chains: Decrease in revenues

An additional cost category determines the account type (debit-side or credit-side down payment chain) and the G/L account to which the additional costs should be assigned. The additional cost category is always created uniquely for one company code.

Only define additional cost categories if you want to calculate additional costs in the down payment chains.
When you create a down payment chain, use the additional cost category for entering the permitted additional costs in the contract data.

Requirements

You have configured the addtional cost update in Customizing under Financial Accounting (New) -> Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable -> Business Transactions -> Debit-Side and Credit-Side Down Payment Chains -> Enhance Debit-Side and Credit-Side Down Payment Chains -> Additional Costs -> Define Update of Additional Costs.

The short texts are language-dependent.
Log on to the system in the language in which you want to maintain the short texts.

Example

Additional costs that arise during work at a construction site:

  • Electricity supply
  • Waste disposal

For these expenses the assessment and additional cost categories "Electricity to Construction Site" and "Waste Disposal" are defined and posted to specifically designated G/L accounts called "Electricity to Construction Site" and "Waste Disposal".
